Contact mode vs. non-contact mode
When it is advisable to perform an examination in non-contact mode?
When examining hard-to-reach areas (e.g. between the toes or fingers) where direct contact with the lesion is difficult – and, in rare cases, where there is a risk of infection – it may be advisable to use the HEINE DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30 and DELTAone without the contact plate fitted (i.e. in non-contact mode). This enables better visualisation of hard-to-reach lesions and the possibility of viewing infectious lesions without coming into direct contact with the skin.

What is the difference between an examination performed in contact mode and an examination performed in non-contact mode?
Thanks to the removable contact plate, the HEINE DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30 and DELTAone can both be used for examinations in contact mode and in non-contact mode.
In contact mode, the patient is examined with the dermatoscope directly applied to the skin, while in non-contact mode, the patient is examined with the dermatoscope at a distance of approximately 1 cm from the skin, having removed the contact plate.

Can the HEINE DELTA 30 / PRO and DELTAone be used without the contact plate?
Yes, the HEINE DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30 and DELTAone dermatoscopes can be used without the contact plate for non-contact examinations.
What is the small contact plate for?
The small contact plate of the HEINE DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30 and DELTAone is specifically designed for examining hard-to-reach pigmented lesions.

General
What do the different coloured LEDs on the device indicate?
The LEDs on the underside indicate the charge level.
The white LED on the left-hand side indicates whether the dermatoscope is in polarised (on) or non-polarised (off) mode.
The coloured LED (yellow, white, bluish, blue) changes colour according to the selected colour temperature.
How can I change the colour temperature of the HEINE DELTA 30 PRO?
By pressing the button to the right of the power button. The device saves this setting so that the colour temperature is already preset the next time it is switched on.
What is the purpose of the HEINE colorSHIFT function?
HEINE colorSHIFT enables switching in 4 steps from warm white to neutral white, cool white or bluish white depending on personal preferences.
Can I change the magnification on my HEINE dermatoscope?
No. Your HEINE dermatoscope has a constant 10x magnification. You can use the focusing ring to compensate for your individual defective vision in the range of -4 to +4 dioptres.
My contact plate no longer sits properly on the device.
We recommend replacing the o-ring to ensure that the contact plate has a secure fit.
What is the polarised illumination mode?
In polarised working mode, the light reflected on the skin is blocked out by a polarisation filter. This provides better visualisation of deeper layers of the skin, similar to the effect of using a non-polarised working mode in combination with immersion fluid. Depending on the structures to be examined, some are better detected with polarisation and others without. For example, vascular patterns can be examined more closely with polarisation. The horn cysts of seborrheic keratosis, on the other hand, are easier to see without polarisation.

What is the difference between polarised and non-polarised illumination?
The main difference between polarised and non-polarised dermatoscopy is the depth of the visualised structures of the skin. While non-polarised dermatoscopy is most suitable for examining structures in the superficial layers of the skin, polarised dermatoscopy is more suitable for examining the deeper layers of the skin.

What is the purpose of the different illumination options?
In daily practice, you examine patients with different colours and types of skin. The HEINE DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30 and DELTAone allow you to choose between 3 different light intensities to adapt the light intensity to the variety of diagnostic situations and the examiners’ preference.
How can I change the light intensity?
DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30
To change the light intensity, press the button on the right-hand side of the device. You can switch between the 3 options by pressing the same button several times. This allows you to select your preferred light intensity. When you switch the device back on again, the light intensity that was last used before the device was switched off is automatically restored.
DELTAone
To change the level of light intensity, please press the small black button situated on the right side of the instrument. Pressing the same button several times will switch between the 3 options. Please choose the illumination of your preference. When turning the device back on, it will automatically restore the illumination level that has been used last before turning the device off.
Do I have to use immersion liquid?
Using immersion liquid reduces reflections during the examination. During examinations with polarised illumination, you do not need immersion liquid, as the light reflected on the skin is blocked out by the polarisation filter.
What type of liquid can be used as an immersion liquid?
The best option is immersion oil, but even disinfection spray or water can be used to reduce reflections when working in non-polarised mode.

What happens if I forget to switch off the device?
The device switches off automatically after 10 minutes if the polarisation button or the light intensity controlleris not used. This feature ensures that the battery does not discharge unintentionally and that the device remains ready for use.
Guarantee, Maintenance & Disinfection
Does the instrument require maintenance?
No. HEINE dermatoscopes are designed to be maintenance-free and have no components that require service.
How can I clean the instrument?
For hygienic reprocessing purposes, the dermatoscope, the contact plate and the diSTANCE working ring should be subjected to wipe disinfection after each patient examination. In addition, and when used under semi-critical conditions, the new HEINE dermatoscopes offer you the option of autoclaving the large contact plate. Detailed information about this can be found in the hygienic reprocessing instructions at www.heine.com.
How can I clean the optics / what can I clean the optics with?
Use a microfibre cloth that is suitable for optics and, if necessary, dampen it with a gentle glass cleaning agent. Switch off the dermatoscope before cleaning the optics. Never spray the optics and filters (underside of the device) with cleaning fluids. Do not apply excessive mechanical pressure to clean the filters on the underside of the device.
Where can I find my dermatoscope’s serial number?
The serial number is engraved on the right-hand side of the device (when viewed from above) and starts with SN…
What does the guarantee cover, and is the LED also covered?
We provide a 5-year guarantee for our dermatoscopes, including the LED illumination. Further details on the guarantee conditions can be found at: www.heine.com/en/service-support/guarantee
Options and spare parts
Can I also use DELTA 30 accessories with the DELTA 30 PRO?
The contact plates, the diSTANCE working ring, the table charger, the USB (Type A) E4 power supply unit and the magnetic photo adapters can be used with both devices.
What is the HEINE diSTANCE used for?
The HEINE diSTANCE working ring enables non-contact examination and management of a lesion under magnification at a constant distance. It is attached to the dermatoscope instead of the contact plate and means that the examination can be performed without exerting pressure on the vessels. This also makes it easier to examine small open wounds and ulcers and to mark lesions for biopsy. Access with an instrument – e.g. forceps – allows foreign bodies such as splinters or parasites to be removed under magnification.
Please note that, when using the HEINE diSTANCE, you must adjust the focus setting to obtain a sharp image. You can adjust the focus between approximately -2 and -4 dioptres (i.e. in the area below the centre line).
Power and Power Supply
How can the battery be replaced?
We offer a battery replacement kit. In addition to the new battery, this kit contains instructions and all the necessary tools to easily replace the battery. Alternatively, you can have the battery replaced by HEINE or a distributor.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
If the battery is completely flat, it usually takes around 150 minutes for the battery to be fully charged again.
How long does the battery last?
The battery life depends on the energy consumption. The energy consumption is significantly influenced by the light intensity set for the LED illumination. At the highest light intensity level, a colour temperature of approx. 5,300 Kelvin (Level 1, warm white), in polarised mode, the dermatoscope has a battery life of > 210 min (i.e. 3.5 hours).
As the dermatoscope is used intermittently in practice, you can use the dermatoscope for several days before you need to recharge it.
Can I also use the DELTA 30’s Charger 30 for the DELTA 30 PRO?
Yes. The Charger 30 is also suitable for charging the DELTA 30 PRO.
Can I charge the device overnight?
The charging cable can remain connected to the dermatoscope without any negative effects on the battery or the device.
How can I charge the device?
For the best charging results, we recommend using the HEINE USB-C cable and power supply unit supplied with the dermatoscope.
We also offer a table charger for the HEINE DELTA 30 PRO | DELTA 30 that can be ordered as an accessory: the Charger 30.
